GSS/gSOAP plugin issues with globus-gssapi-gsi >= 10.6
The latest update of Globus v. 5.2.1 in EPEL uncovered a bug present in the GSS/gSOAP plugin libraries, a buffer under-run during setting proxy filename.
This issue can affect the following services: CREAM, L&B, WMS, EMI-UI, EMI-WN (EMI 1 and EMI 2 versions) in case they are updated to the latest version of globus-gssapi-gsi (10.6).
Developers are already preparing an update of the affected component, glite-lbjp-common-gss, that will be released in the following days. Until then, as an workaround, EMI is providing from its third-party repositories the previous version of Globus, 5.2.0.
Sites that have automatic updates enabled or recently did an update or tried to install and configure new nodes hosting one of the above mentioned services and observe problems should downgrade the globus-* packages by doing:
# yum clean all
# yum downgrade globus\*
How to check if your services are affected:
# rpm -q --qf "%{V}-%{R}\n" globus-gssapi-gsi
10.6-1.el6 or 10.6-1.el5, depending on your OS
and observe the following error message:
